Our Lavender essential oil is extracted from the flowering tips of the lavender bush via steam distillation. Whilst the aroma is clearly identifiable as lavender, Bulgarian lavender is more complex in its fragrance as compared to other types of lavender. It has a deeper floral scent than traditional English, and is less camphorous than the French lavender, with slightly more earthy notes.

About Our Lavender Oil
Lavender essential oil is the most used essential oil in the world today, but the benefits of lavender were actually discovered over 2,500 years ago. Because of its powerful antioxidant, antimicrobial, sedative, calming and anti-depressive properties, lavender oil benefits abound and it’s been used both cosmetically and therapeutically for centuries.
The lavender oil is distilled from the flowering tops of the Lavender plant,
Lavandula Angustifolia. Bulgarian Lavender is widely acknowledged as among the world’s best due to the soil and climate conditions. We have planted the Bulgarian varieties Hemus and Sevtopolis. These Lavender varieties have a lower yield, but higher in quality.
Our focus lays with quality rather than quantity and therefore we keep are production area small, unlike many other growers here. By having a smaller area, we can assure the control of the quality better during harvest. The quality is very depended on harvesting at the correct time, but also under good weather conditions during harvest. Being able to harvest everything in one day eliminates the need in starting to harvest too early and carrying on too late. We also are able to choose a day with the best weather conditions during the small harvest window we have.
To further ensure quality we keep our fertilizer use to a minimum and only fertilize when needed. The weeding is done mechanically or by hand and avoid using chemicals.
Harvesting is carried out using our trusty tractor and by hand. Once picked from our field, it is then steam extracted, bottled and dispatched directly to our customers.
